Overview
This is a system for acoustic room correction. Although it came with TOTAL MAX, the administrator does not really need it because they only use headphones. In other words, they are a kind of music refugee who has never actually played sound in a room environment.
Objects in a music production environment—such as walls and furniture—reflect and absorb sound, which can distort the frequency balance and stereo image of what reaches your ears. If a room’s acoustic treatment is insufficient, a sound that seems excellent in that room may turn into an unpleasant mix when played in other environments. Of course, the creator cannot know what kind of room the listener will use to hear the music. Still, aiming for a sound field based on a standard listening environment might reduce further distortions.
ARC System 3 is designed to analyze and correct these room-related problems without requiring expensive acoustic treatment. It works by measuring the room’s acoustic characteristics with a dedicated microphone, analyzing the results, and generating a profile. You then load the saved profile into the ARC plugin inserted on the master channel of your DAW. By doing so, the music can be heard closer to its intended sound, making it possible to create balanced mixes that translate well to different listening environments quickly and efficiently.
It is also said that room correction can be performed reasonably well even with a non-standard microphone, as long as it is of decent quality.
Since the administrator does not use this system, there is not much more to say about it. It’s basically a wasted treasure.
