Overview
This article is about facing one of the applications that came with TOTAL MAX but that I rarely use.
Even if I can't create anything with it, my personal approach is to at least learn how to use it. Maybe one day I'll be able to create something with it, and if I wait until that day to start learning, it would already be too late, right?

Even though it's such an amazing tool, I have absolutely zero composition sense, so I can't really make good use of it. That's a bit embarrassing. Maybe people who can actually compose find this kind of software really fun all by itself.
As for me, I'm just the type of person who copies something and plays it.
SampleTank 4 拡張音源のプリセットが表示されない
拡張音源のプリセットはすべてが存在するわけではありません。例えば、Extraterrestrial Saxophoneはプリセットは無く、Libraryとしての音源を保有しているだけです。プリセットで選べないならライブラリはどうやって選ぶ？それは、SampleTank4の画面の上の赤い帯、左上にある音符マークを選んで、Parts Viewを開いているときなら、例えば、1番上のMIDI Channel 1のInstrumentの列のあたり何もプリセットが読み込まれていない時はLoadInstrumentと表示される部分にカーソルを合わせてクリックすると画面が変わります。遷移した画面の一番左にLibrary一覧が表示されています。ここに拡張音源のLibraryが表示されるので、ここから各Instrumentを選択して、音を選ぶという作業になります。Instrumentに表示された項目をダブルクリックすると音源が読み込まれます。これで、先ほどのParts画面のChannel 1にInstrumentがロードされたことになります。やってみて。
SampleTank 4 拡張音源のセットアップ
拡張音源をIKサイトよりDownloadしてzipファイルを解凍すると、その中にInstallerがあるので、Installerによるセットアップダイアログで音源を保存したい場所を指定する部分があるので、そこで指定します。Installerを使わなくても、SampleTank 4 Sound Contentの中にある3～8くらいの複数のフォルダをコピペするだけです。複数の音源も同じディレクトリにどんどんコピーしていく方式なので、また取り除くときは分別処理が必要になります。でも、このように全部を集約して保存することで、SampleTank4の設定でサウンドライブラリのありかを指定するときに1回で済みます。拡張音源ごとに分けたい人は、サウンドライブラリのありかを分けて、いくつもSampleTank4の指定しにくい設定画面で何回も繰り返し、設定するといいと思います。分別処理は法則が見いだせればやれなくない作業なので、消したいときに、法則にしたがって消す方が楽かなと思います。管理人は外部ハードディスクに保存しているのでSampleTank4を使うときだけ、外部ハードディスクをノートパソコンにつなぐという運用で利用しています。あまり使わないもののために、ノートパソコンの貴重なSSDディスク領域(M.2330サイズの最大容量:2TB)がひっ迫するのは辛いですからね。M.2330サイズで8Tという製品が出るならそのときは内部に保有してもいいかなと思います。
SampleTank 4 ST4 ImportedとST3 Imported
SampleTank4の設定画面のSound Contentの指定フォルダに以下の二つは必須です。
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4
UserフォルダのユーザIDのところではなく、一律でPublicにST4 ImportedとST3 Importedの保存機能が全ぶりされているみたいです。上記設定がないと、ライブラリ一覧の中の一番下にST4 Importedがダウンロードが必要みたいな形式で表示されますが、ST4 Importedはユーザ自身がwavファイルをインポートして使う機能です。ST4 Importedダウンロードボタンを押すとユーザ画面の製品登録ページが表示されますが、ST4 Importedに対してダウンロードするべきSounds Libraryファイルはありません。ちなみにImportは、素材の音の高さ、もしくは割り当てるキー値をつけて、"C4 素材名.wav"のようにしてアップロードするとキー割り当てを自動で認識してくれます。
SampleTank4の画面の上の赤い帯、左上にある音符マークを選んで、Parts Viewを開いているときなら、例えば、1番上のMIDI Channel 1のInstrumentの列のあたり何もプリセットが読み込まれていない時はLoadInstrumentと表示される部分の横にある三本線のアイコンから[Import Samples...]からインボート画面を開くか、"C4 素材名.wav"のようにしたファイルをLoadInstrumentと表示される部分にドラッグアンドドロップすることでインポートできます。Sample Tank Editorを使わないと更に細かい調整は難しいです。
消すときは、C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4のImported InstrumentおよびImported Sampleに関連のファイルが生成されるので該当するものを消すことで対応できます。
